If you are on staff at a church and think this training would benefit young couples at your church, and ultimately your church body, please contact us! We would be eager to discuss partnering with your church and to get Marriage Plus started there. Our hearts desire is to equip couples to have spiritually fruitful marriages. And, once established, Marriage Plus groups can continue to multiply at your church with very little assistance from us. We can also discuss strategies for enfolding trained graduate couples into fruitful service in your church and in local outreach.
If you are a couple who is interested in participating in this training, you are welcome to contact us too! Ideally, you will have passed on information about this ministry to the appropriate pastor at your church (adult education, small groups, discipleship, family, etc.) who has expressed a desire to investigate an intensive training program like this.
In order to begin a group we would need the following practical things to happen (it usually takes about six months to get a group started):
- A ministry partnership agreement between our ministries, including an invitation from to start a group (or groups) at your church
- Applications from five or six quality couples that will commit to the Marriage Plus training, including one exceptionally mature host/facilitator couple
- Complete the information/orientation meeting with all interested couples
- Set a teaching schedule for the course
The skills training we received through Marriage Plus has become essential to how we do life and ministry as a couple. When faced with the everyday challenge of making important decisions together, we continually return to a Marriage Plus basic—that listening with empathy is both loving and effective work.
